  1. I bought 2 at Pearl Paint in NYC 5 or 6 years ago. Unfortunately, I’ve lost the pointers (end caps) from both. I went by Pearl this morning, and a salesperson told me they no longer carry them. Still, you might want to call the store in Boston to see if they have any old stock. I think I’ll check the one in NJ this weekend. Worst case scenario, I found this St. Paul MN online store that sells them for $15.00 which should be a reasonible price even with shipping.

  2. P.S. If you see any shops that sell parts let me know. I’d really like to replace those two pointers.

  5. Hi,
Regarding the Caran d’Ache Fixpencil with 2 mm lead:
The best price seems to be at swissmade.com, especially if you order several in order to defray postage cost. Cost per pen $10.30 US, plus shipping.
Also, “inoshishi” sells fixpencils on EBay. The one most recently auctioned went for about $20 US plus shipping.
If you google “fixpencil” you’ll find a place that sells them at ten for $170 US + shipping.
Suggestion: Buy only the black ones because the matte finish makes for a good grip. Also, the Fixpencil 22 is better than the Fixpencil 77 in this regard. I have several of both, but use the 22’s th most.

Recently got some Fixpencil 2 mm and 3 mm lead holders from Wet Paint Art (only place I was able to find that carried the 3mm and even the 4 mm size Fixpencils of the Caran D’ache Museum line in the USA). They recently revamped their website, so the above link no longer works. Happy pencil hunting!
